Thanks for stopping by my site. I’m so glad you’re interested in making some art together. I’ve always loved art and have been doing it since I was a kid. My path into working as an artist wasn’t always straight, but whenever I got too far away from it, it always drew me back in. Making art makes me happy and I like sharing that with other people.
My goal in having this artspace is to help people change their mindsets from “I’m not an artist” into “Art is available to me”. My curriculums are intended to give students skills that will help them break the barrier between themselves and a blank piece of paper. My classes are meant to be places to find the skills and self-belief necessary to include visual art in your life, no matter what your profession or path is.
I say this often— most adults I talk to tell me they “can’t draw”, and most follow it up with a story about the moment they realized it as a kid. I think this is so regrettable because art is something that is there for you anywhere and everywhere. After a rough day, sitting down and drawing a chair in front of you is as powerful mediation and stress release as anything— if you believe that you can do it.
My goal is to give a student the experience of making a great drawing. I think that memory can stay with you a lifetime and eclipse the self-doubt that we collect as we grow up. It’s never too late to become an artist.
